Where Detector24 and Moderation API differ
Native models per modality versus text-first
Moderation API’s docs state audio files are automatically transcribed to text and analysed by text policies, and video frames are sampled and analysed by image policies. Detector24 runs dedicated models for each modality, including AI music detection, AI voice detection and deepfake detection, none of which appear as detectors in Moderation API’s public materials.
Stored by default versus deleted by default
Moderation API stores submitted content by default so it can appear in the dashboard and review queue, with retention of one month on Basic and three on Growth, and its docs advise not disabling storage if you want to train custom models. Detector24 no human reviewers in the loop; images are automatically deleted after analysis with no long-term storage; data residency options available.
Certificates held versus in progress
Detector24 states AICPA SOC, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, CSA STAR Level One, GDPR-compliant handling. Moderation API states “ISO 27001 Certification in progress” on its homepage and SOC 2 Type II “In progress” on every pricing tier, alongside DSA, GDPR and CCPA compliance statements.
Moderation API ships the review desk and the integrations
Moderation API includes a review queue and user management on every plan including the free one, natural-language guidelines evaluated by an LLM in a single call, wordlists with semantic matching, precedent-based rulings, and no-code integrations with Zapier, Discord, Discourse, Shopify, WordPress, Slack and more. Detector24 is an API with a developer dashboard; it does not sell a review queue or no-code connectors.

Where we agree with Moderation API: rules should be yours
Moderation API lets a customer write a guideline in plain language and have an LLM enforce it, and it lets every review a team makes feed back into the model. Detector24 agrees that a fixed taxonomy is never the whole answer, which is why every model returns a confidence score and every threshold is yours to set. The two differ on where the intelligence sits: Moderation API leans on an LLM over text, Detector24 on dedicated models per medium.
That difference shows in the media you send. Moderation API turns audio into a transcript and video into sampled frames before its text and image policies run, which is efficient for chat-heavy platforms and lossy for a music catalogue or a deepfaked clip. Detector24 has separate models for AI music, AI voice, deepfakes and threat detection, and states latency per modality.
The last difference is what happens to the content afterwards. Moderation API stores it by default so moderators can see it, and its docs advise leaving storage on if you want to train custom models. Detector24 deletes after analysis. If you want a review queue, storage is the point; if you want a stateless API, deletion is.
Detector24 fits you if
- Your content is mostly images, video or audio and you want dedicated models for each
- You need AI-generated content, deepfake, AI music or AI voice detection
- Content must be deleted after analysis rather than stored for a review queue
- Certifications already held, rather than in progress, are what your security review asks for
Moderation API may fit you if
- Your platform is text-heavy and you want custom guidelines written in natural language
- You need a review queue, user management and DSA reporting on day one
- You want no-code connectors for Zapier, Discord, Discourse, Shopify or WordPress
- A flat monthly message bundle is easier to budget than per-request pricing
Common questions
If your content is visual or audio, yes: Detector24 runs dedicated models for image, video, text and audio with AI-generated content and deepfake detection, publishes per-model prices, and gives every account 100 free moderations a month on the free tier. Moderation API is text-first with a review queue, LLM guidelines and no-code integrations; if those are what you need, it is the wider platform.
